Trailer Review:
[Author: Alex Miller]

We’ve got the brand new trailer for “Devil” today. This is the first of a supposed eventual trilogy in “The Night Chronicles” series. The official website refers to it as having “M. Night Shyamalan’s signature touch”. It can’t be that bad can it?! Click the jump for the complete first look!

In truth M. Night Shyamalan only came up with the story and was a glorified producer. He didn’t write the script and he didn’t direct it. Unfortunately, the Dowdle brothers directed it. The only movie they’ve directed (that I’ve ever heard of) is “Quarantine” which got average reviews as far as horror flicks go. I’ll say I’m a little more interested in this movie. For one, I’m a huge fan of Geoffrey Arend. He’s the guy in the trailer who doesn’t want anyone looking in his pockets. He was the “I should get your number!” guy in “Garden State” and the greeting-card-writing buddy in “500 Days of Summer”. And if nothing else, Caroline Dhavernas, apparently playing the typical young good-looking horror movie girl, will be fun to look at.

I’ll give the trailer credit for not immediately giving away who the “Devil” in the elevator is. But since M. Night Shyamalan came up with the story my money is on it having some stupid twist ending. Like maybe she finds out she was dead all along. Or that it was all part of some unorthodox study on the human mind that she didn’t know she was a part of. Or maybe it really is that “I should get your number!” guy. Who knows! Let us know who you think it is in the comments!
