To promote the new movie Tron: Legacy, Disney is putting up a real-life “Flynn’s Arcade” from the original Tron movie. If you were lucky enough to go to Comic-Con you may have seen the one they had there, which I hear was basically an exact replica. I can only assume this uses the same setup.

“From a dazzling dance club under the stars to an authentic recreation of Flynn’s Arcade to some radical gaming, it’s like nowhere else on the grid! Each night, we’ll feature live entertainers, complete with lasers, glow accessories and the hottest music ever to rock the grid. ElecTRONica is “the” place to dance the night away in a fantastic world that only Disney can create. Highlights for the entire family will definitely be Flynn’s Video Arcade, face painting and the TRON: Evolution video game area. ElecTRONica will transform Disney California Adventure park Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays this Fall. TRON fans and families can also enjoy the party seven days a week during Thanksgiving week and Christmas week.”–Disney Parks Blog

Over the Top: Profiles in Action Movie History

Leaving my local multiplex the other night after seeing Dinner for Schmucks, review found here, I saw an almost life-size display for Sylvester Stallone’s upcoming cavalcade of action stars, The Expendables.  It got me thinking back to simpler times when my friends and I would go down to the video store and rent the bloodiest, most shootinest action flicks we could find.  Growing up in the 80s and 90s was the prime time for watching the peaking action careers of Willis, Schwarzenegger, JCVD, Stallone and many others.  Ahh, the blood and carnage take me right back.  So due to my undying love for a genre that is rife with plot inconsistencies, bad acting and things blowing up for no better reason than that they should, I will be profiling some of film’s best action stars.  I will chart their highs and lows, where they came from, where they are now, and why we love them so much.  So strap yourself in and don’t forget, “If it bleeds, we can kill it.”

For the first installment I’ll be profiling one of the big three, Arnold Schwarzenegger. (more…)
