Sometimes the marketing of a movie becomes just as iconic as the movie itself.  Fonts are a big part of the branding. Hell I could have posted my grocery list for the week in the above font, and besides thinking “Wow this dude is gonna have a heart attack in 5 years,” you would of course know that it was the Back to the Future font.  So after seeing this font posted by the BTTF Facebook page (yeah I really love that movie), I got to thinking what are the best movie fonts out there? Well don’t worry because I’ve done the legwork for you and included links to download them!  (WARNING: Do not use these fonts to type your master’s thesis with…I learned that lesson the hard way.)  (more…)

To promote the new movie Tron: Legacy, Disney is putting up a real-life “Flynn’s Arcade” from the original Tron movie. If you were lucky enough to go to Comic-Con you may have seen the one they had there, which I hear was basically an exact replica. I can only assume this uses the same setup.

“From a dazzling dance club under the stars to an authentic recreation of Flynn’s Arcade to some radical gaming, it’s like nowhere else on the grid! Each night, we’ll feature live entertainers, complete with lasers, glow accessories and the hottest music ever to rock the grid. ElecTRONica is “the” place to dance the night away in a fantastic world that only Disney can create. Highlights for the entire family will definitely be Flynn’s Video Arcade, face painting and the TRON: Evolution video game area. ElecTRONica will transform Disney California Adventure park Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays this Fall. TRON fans and families can also enjoy the party seven days a week during Thanksgiving week and Christmas week.”–Disney Parks Blog

Hey everyone, we’re very excited to announce that one of the most popular film websites on the net, Flixster.com (the same people behind RottenTomatoes.com), have chosen to feature our review of Tron on their main page.  They definitely don’t do this for just anyone and it really means a lot to us! Here is a sincere thank you to Flixster and to everyone who has supported us so far!

“Computers and the programs will start thinking and the people will stop."

As we all know the next big thing to hit theaters will be “Tron Legacy”. So I thought it would be a good time to revisit the original. Many people today have never seen it or don’t remember it. I definitely remembered it but it had been awhile and it deserved another look. This movie is visually spectacular. In fact, even today, while some aspects look dated, the “wow” factor still rivals that of modern movies. No film before it, or since, used these exact techniques. But despite all of its technological wonder and originality, it is a flawed masterpiece. Although I didn’t notice it as a kid, this film borrows heavily from many films before it. It also may not even be as good at telling those stories. But even though it borrows from other films, likewise, many films have since borrowed heavily from “Tron”. Let’s take a look! (more…)

Trailer Review:
[Reviewed by: Alex Miller]
[Update: Review Added]

The new Tron Legacy trailer was released today by Disney at Comic-Con! I wish I could say this trailer made me more excited to see this movie, but frankly that’s not possible. The last time I had this much nerdy anticipation for a sequel was when Matrix: Reloaded was coming out. Needless to say that didn’t turn out so well. The original Tron was groundbreaking to say the least, but honestly hasn’t held up well over time. I’m still able to look past how dated it has become, but I doubt most can. In fact, I bet most either haven’t seen the original or can’t remember it. Who cares if you get what’s going on in the new one right? It has awesome special effects, a ridiculously hott chick, and a nerdy sci-fi story. Did I mention it has awesome special effects? I mean that dude’s shirt has more lights than a football stadium. Why does everything have lights on it? I mean I know it’s a video game, but seriously. Is there a rave afterwards? What’s the deal?
